 What is a Home Inspection?

A  Home Inspection is a professional objective visual inspection of the physical structure and systems of the home, from the roof to the foundation.  Our objective is to identify current or potential problems that exist in order to allow you to be completely informed about your home.  If problems or symptoms are found, the inspector may recommend further evaluation.

 

What does a Home Inspection include?

The standard home inspector's report with supporting photos will review the condition of the roof, attic and visible insulation, the home's heating and central air conditioning systems, interior plumbing, electrical system, walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and windows, appliances, cabinets, foundation and all visible structures.

 

How long does the Inspection Take?

Most single family Home Inspections take about 3 hours.  This depends on the size and condition of the home.  Additional specific inspections like Pool or Pest may add additional time.

Who will fix the issues uncovered at the Inspection?

Paradise Home Check LLC only determines the problems that might be present and include pictures and details about suggested repairs needed. This assures an objective third party report upon completion.  Hiring the appropriately licensed contractor is highly recommended to assure the problem is corrected accurately.dd an answer to this item.

 

What is Defective Drywall?

The term “Chinese drywall” generally refers to defective drywall manufactured in China and and used in the United States in the manufacture of homes. Chemical emissions with the smell of rotten eggs interacted with copper in wiring, piping and other air conditioning coils, turning them black and powdery. Additionally, homeowners reported a variety of symptoms from respiratory problems to chronic headaches. The use of Chinese drywall as dramatically increased as a result of hurricanes to hit the U.S. Gulf Coast in 2004 and 2005 as well as the housing boom leading up to that time period. The emissions and symptoms related to Chinese drywall have been shown to be worse in warm, humid climates like those in Southwest Florida.

What is a Wind Mitigation Inspection?

This inspection looks at the wind preparedness of the home in order to provide detailed documents and supporting photos to your insurance company and can provide discounts on your home owners insurance.  What qualifies for a discount?

1. Roof coverings that meet building codes.

2. Roof Deck attachment to the Supporting Structure.

3. Roof Structure to Wall Attachment- metal straps, clips, nails...

4. Exterior Wall Type- Masonry or Wood

5. Roof Shape- Hip, Gable, Flat

6. Opening Protection- Impact Windows & Doors, Shutters & Roll Shutter Systems.

7. Reinforced Garage Doors- Levels of Wind resistance

8. Secondary Water Resistant Underlayment's for Roofing

How can I save Money with a Windstorm Inspection?

In Florida it is mandated by law that you are entitled to receive certain reductions for the type of protections and construction of your home listed above.  Once the inspection is completed you can forward the report to your insurance company for reduced  premiums.  Many save hundreds to thousands depending on coverage that you have.  Just think of the repeated savings year over year with this one added inspection!

 

Does my insurance company offer discounts?

Yes.  All Florida insurance companies offer discounts on premiums based on construction techniques that reduce potential damage and loss due to Windstorms.
